How to remove red wine stains from your carpet

From a quiet-night-in bottle to a Thursdays night with friends, red wine is drunk on many occasions. A small accident could have your carpet stained by this drink.

Here are some tips to get rid of the stain :


Salt : Using a piece cloth to get rid of the stain, it would only absorb some of the moisture and not all of it. Using salt to get rid of red wine stains is more effective. The salt with absorb the moisture present in the carpet. Use a vacuum cleaner to take out the excess salt. Use a cloth and dampen the area. This will help to restore the carpet to its natural form.

Dish Soap : Use some dish soap (half a cup )along with hydrogen peroxide. Effective for for light fabric. Hydrogen peroxide is a mild bleaching agent. Let the solution seep into the carpet and then gently dab the stain. If you’re worried that your carpet color would be affect by this method. Use a small potion of the solution on your carpet. If you’re carpet lighten then avoid using this method.

Club Soda : Rub in some club soda to the stain. After the stain is blotted up , use some dish soap along with some warm water to clean the stain. Repeat this process until the stain is removed. If it’s a tough stain use the hydrogen peroxide to the some amount of hydrogen peroxide to the mix. Make sure to test it out first before on small portion, if you decide to use hydrogen peroxide.
