Importance of mattress cleaning

No matter how clean our home is, the mattresses are still prone to dirt and germs. We produce up to half a litre of sweat every night and even though we wear night clothes, which we wash frequently along with our bed linen; this is no protection against what happens to the mattress.

House dust mites find that a mattress is the perfect breeding ground. It is their droppings which cause most of the problems. These have been medically proven to start a whole host of allergic reactions - from Asthma, Bronchitis, Eczema to itchy eyes and sneezing. Undoubtly, without cleaning a mattress, it could be the dirtiest item in your home! It is predictable that there are up to 2 million house dust mites living in a mattress, and in an average pillow, around 10% of its mass is made up of dead skin and dust mites.

Mattress cleaning is important to your health and comfort.  If you have kids, you know how they love to poop and pee while you are changing them.  Many times it goes through the blankets and soaks into your mattress. No one wants to sleep on a soiled mattress, right? This is where the importance of mattress cleaning comes in the picture.

Professional cleaning should not be neglected. It should be given all the attention it needs. Professional cleaning should be engaged at least once a month, so that you and your family can be safe from all the unwanted dust mites in your bedding and your carpet. Your home should be regularly kept clean and dry.

So the next time you want to get sound sleep, contact our professionals at Classique ChemDry and they will do the rest. The one thing you have to do is vacuum regularly and keep your home as dry as possible. You can clean your living room with a little help from our professional carpet cleaners in your area. So, have a sound sleep!

Canberra Professional Cleaners v/s. Clean It Yourself (CIY)

Many People believe that calling a professional carpet cleaning company is a waste of money. They also feel that they can clean their carpets themselves without any difficulty. However, this is where they are wrong. Before you think of taking matters into your own hands and start cleaning your carpet, ask yourself one question. Do you believe you will get similar results as that of a professional cleaner if you clean your carpet yourself? Let’s get to know the ups and downs between doing it yourself and hiring professional Canberra carpet cleaners.

Cleaning Carpets Yourself
There are certain things you got to keep in mind before you decide to clean the carpets yourself. ‘Doing it yourself’ is a good way to save money, but can also be risky as you might end up ruining your carpet. Many think of renting or buying their own personal steam machine to clean their carpets themselves, but don’t research enough to know whether the use of the machine will benefit them or cause more problems. Most rentals don’t clean your carpet thoroughly, but end up damaging them. Before renting, several systems must be checked to prevent damage to your carpet - like the machine should have enough vacuum power to let the carpet dry within 12 hrs.  They should also be able to extract the cleaning solution from the carpet quickly to prevent further damage to it. Hence, if you are planning to buy or rent equipment, make sure you check the power settings and other necessary systems to prevent damage to your carpet.

Canberra Professional Cleaners
It is preferable that you call professional carpet cleaners, as they are the ones who know carpets better than anyone. At the end of the day it’s always experience that counts.  Professional carpet cleaners know the cleaning agents required to clean your carpets and also have the machine power required to help your carpets dry faster without damaging them. They possess all the necessary knowledge required to clean your carpets, like the fiber of your carpet, the cleaning agent that is friendlier to that type of fiber, etc. They will also provide you with advice to help you maintain your carpet for longer.

Why Professionals should handle End of Lease cleaning

The most annoying part of moving out is to be the time when you have to clean up the place to make it look like it first did. Everybody knows that feeling, wondering how much of your deposit will be returned to you and then you have to begin with the cleanup process and make sure you don’t miss anything or it is cut out of your deposit.

Pet owners and students are the people who face most of the problems. Pet owners face the problems of the pet odors, urine stains and shedding of the pets fur. Students face a lot more cause of the after party stains like alcohol stains and odor, junk food odor, muddy stained carpets, etc. That’s where professionals from Classique Chem-Dry’s come in. We can have those stains and odors taken care off in no time with our advanced machinery and experienced professionals.

However some people believe calling professionals is a waste of time. You may believe that you can handle all the cleaning yourself. But don’t underestimate the amount of hard work required for it, as you can end up losing your security deposit for a minor flaw. Professional cleaners know how the landlords or estate agents think and thus know what needs to be cleaned.

So instead of wasting your days and nights trying to clean an annoying mess, call the professionals, and for a small fee we can have the place look as good as new. Instead of risking losing your security deposit, it’s better to pay a small amount to save a lot.

Hiring Classique ChemDry’s professionals will ensure you get the most of your deposit back without having to spend a big amount of money to hire them. Contact us at

Measures to be taken to maintain your Carpet

Carpets make a home look presentable and beautiful. However if proper measures are not taken to maintain them, the life of the carpet will be short lived. There are certain ways and methods you can use to keep your carpet well maintained. These particular methods can help your favorite carpet be around for a long time.

Use doormats, not carpets – A main reason why carpets get worn off quickly are because people make use of the carpets like doormats. Carpets should not be used to wipe your feet, instead make use of the doormat before steeping foot on the carpet. This way you help prevent dust and dirt from settling on your carpet.

Vacuum Regularly – The best way to maintain your carpet is to vacuum it regularly. Mostly carpets get worn off because they have a tendency to gather a lot of dust and dirt. This dust and dirt cause it to deteriorate faster. However vacuuming can help prolong the life of your carpets if you Vacuuming daily

Prevent dropping Drinks and Eatables on the Carpet – Prevent eating or drinking near your carpet. This can lead to accidents like dropping your wine glass or a cup of tea on the carpet and end up dealing with an irritating stain. However if you happen to create a stain by dropping your coffee or wine glass, make sure you clean the stain as soon as possible, or it might end up leaving a permanent stain.

Keep Carpets Fresh and Deodorized – If your carpet looks clean, make sure it smells good too. If your carpet looks clean doesn't mean they are as clean as you think. The carpet can be carrying a batch of harmful bacteria that can be causing your carpet to stink.  Hence it is very important to deodorize and freshen the smell of carpets to prevent the growth of these harmful bacteria.

Home affected by fire damage? Here’s what you need to do!

Restless to clean your home at the earliest after a fire? Do not worry! Just these simple guidelines & you can reduce further damage to your property.

First & most importantly, ensure you get a ‘go-ahead’ from your fire marshal to safely re-enter your home after the fire damage. Try to get the air moving out fast. Open all the windows to aerate areas. Set up a fan to circulate the air.

But remember, all your efforts will be a waste unless you get professional help & advice to clean up the property. As delay in doing the same would only create further damage property.

The unique behavior of smoke is the main reason for this complexity of property loss or further damage, post (after) fire. Only a trained & qualified fire damage professional would be able to thoroughly examine the site to determine the degree damage due to the fire, smoke and heat.

Licensed fire restoration professionals are aware that even the areas seemingly unaffected by fire damage, still possess danger to homeowners. Materials like ash and smoke, if left unopposed or unchecked, will cause extensive corrosion, etching and discoloration to the property & its belongings; not to mention also lingering powerful odors. Smoke could make a way into cavities of the structure, causing hidden damage and odor.

Hence, the skills & experience that the fire restoration technicians have such situations & building systems helps them investigate how far the fire and smoke damage could have spread in the structure.

Here are 8 reasons why you should choose Professional Carpet Cleaning

Most people assume that they do not need skilled carpet cleaners. That’s where we are wrong. There are numerous reasons why people should get their carpets cleaned by skilled cleaners. Let’s have a look at eight different ways to get them cleaned for a start. If any of these apply to you, then you might want to consider getting professional carpet cleaning for your home.
  1. When you have children, who are adorable little mess-makers, they track mud on your floors, dribble paint, drop food, and do a whole lot of additional things that can be devastating to the overall appearance of your carpets. They have a tendency to make a lot more ‘foot traffic’ than anything else.
  2. Little toddlers, pets who make a lot of mess, drool, soil the place and leave horrible little ‘surprises’ on your carpets.
  3. If you have tough stains in your carpets and have tried to clean it on your own, a professional service can assist you to get the job done. They have specialized tools that can certainly make what you envisage without a solution - very plausible.
  4. If you are hosting an event, it’s pretty obvious you would want your entire house to look wonderful. Of course, this includes your carpets. If you want to really astonish your guests, get your carpets cleaned a day or two before the big event.
  5. In the last few years, if you have not had your carpet cleaned, it is advisable that you get it done as soon as possible. This should be done at least once in a year, with minor additional cleaning in between, as required.
  6. If your house is the central hub for everything, or if you have a large amount of people visiting your home on a regular basis, you will probably need to have your carpets professionally cleaned. The more people moving about your house, the more dirt gets deposited onto your carpets. It’s as simple as that.
  7. You want your carpets to appear brand new every time. Moderately get them cleaned now and then.
  8. You want your carpets to “fresh” on a day-to-day basis. Carpets that have been professionally cleaned will be easier to maintain for quite a while in the future as well.
Call us at Classique ChemDry today on 1800 213 006 and we would be happy to set up an appointment for you with our Carpet Cleaning Technicians! Or you can visit us at http://www.classiquechemdry.com.au/services/carpet-cleaning/.

How to Remove Pet Stains and Odors

Well! As we all know, the minute we turn our back, our pet realizes that the new carpet is just the right place to relieve itself.

Even after multiple cleaning attempts, it’s extremely hard to get rid of that smell & stain. In such a case, what could you possibly do?

Find out where it happened
  • Find out which areas are dirty.
  • Train your pet once again to avoid targeting those areas.
  • Outline the stained areas with a chalk.
  • Rinse the "stained area" thoroughly with clean, cool water. After rinsing, remove excess water by blotting.

As long as your pet can smell his own scent, he will continue to return to the "stained area." Even if you aren't able to smell traces of pet urine, your pet surely can.
Make the "stained area" uninviting and unavailable to your pet. Then use positive reinforcement techniques to show him the appropriate place to relieve himself. The re-training period may take a week or more. Remember, it took him time to build the bad habit, and it will take time to replace that habit with a new behavior. So treat your pet with patience and encourage him!

If you are still unable to clean your carpet thoroughly, feel free to call our experts at Classique ChemDry at 1800 213 006. Visit our website for more information - http://www.classiquechemdry.com.au/.

Ways to clean area and special type of rugs

If you need your surrounding to look the best then follow these simple guidelines for basic care, deep cleaning, stain removal and learn how to treat particular types of area rugs.

  • Vacuum large rugs to get rid of dirt. The best, way for larger area rugs is to vacuum them frequently. If a rug is reversible, vacuum both sides. This removes grit and grime that can wear out your rug impulsively. Do not vacuum the edge of your rug.
  • Sweep out pet hair. A vacuum sometimes leaves pet hair behind. Use a unbendable brush to remove the hair, comb-out in the direction of the nap of the rug.
  • Turn rugs annually. Foot traffic and sun sets extra stress on area rugs. Twirl them twice a year to level out the wear.
  • Shake tiny area rugs. If the rug is small enough, take it outside and shake it or beat it dynamically to eliminate dirt and grit. several areas have ordinances about shaking rugs in the open, check for restricted codes.

How to clean special type of rugs

Woven or braided rugs: Check rugs for edging breaks prior and after cleaning. Check labels to conclude whether small braided rugs are washable. If washable, then place them in a zippered pillowcase or mesh laundry bag. Wash with cold water on a gentle cycle, rinsing thoroughly. Tumble dry on a low setting. Place large braided rugs on a concrete floor or place an old blanket underneath. Sponge commercial carpet-cleaning foam over the plane and massage it accordingly. Finish by rinsing thoroughly and ensure its dry before replacing the rug on the floor.

Handmade, hand-knotted, historic, and Oriental rugs: Vacuum a new Oriental rug as you would do carpet and wool area rugs. Use special care for fragile antique rugs. Guard them by placing a piece of nylon screen over the rug and weighting it down with books or bricks. Vacuum over the screen. Or, tie a piece of nylon mesh over the vacuum attachment and replace the mesh regularly as dirt accumulates. Ensure that rugs are professionally cleaned at least once in a year. Rotate rugs to ensure even wear; direct exposure to sun will cause fading.

Coir, sisal and grass rugs: Rugs which are made from these natural fibers attribute an open weave that allows dirt to sift through to the floor beneath. Many of these rugs are reversible; if so, flip every time you vacuum for even wear. To sanitize stains or discolorations on a room-size natural-fiber rug, leave it in place. Guard the floor underneath with a plastic drop cloth and towel. Rub the stains with a soft brush dabbed in soapy water. Rinse with clear water. Place a towel over the wet area. Blot the cleaned spot pet dry. Use a moveable fan or hair dryer to speed drying. Move small rugs to a confined table or counter to clean. Water spoils the fibers, so work quickly and dry thoroughly to extend the life of these rugs. Some natural-fiber rugs are constructed in squares that are sewn together. Buy a little extra squares. If a rug square becomes permanently stained, clip the threads that hold it in place and swap with a new square. Hand-stitch it with heavy-duty carpet thread

Fur, sheepskin, and hair-on hides: Sprinkle unscented talcum powder on fur, sheepskin, and hair-on hide rugs and leave for some hours. Brush the talcum powder through the hair, then shake it out. Repeat this process continuously, depending on the length of the fur. To clean the back of such a rug, use a clean cotton cloth dabbed in lukewarm soapy water. Wipe off the dirt and rinse with a cloth dipped in clean water and allow it to dry completely before placing back in place.

How to react when carpet is damaged with water??

No one has control over natural water-related disasters. But one can take all the anticipatory measures to minimize and avoid consequence on your carpet. As soon as you observe a dampness on a carpet, you must call a water damage service corporation. They will immediately come out for an inspection, and will most likely recommend you to remove bits and pieces or any substances from the carpet or anything that is stored under your bed and move them to a dry and secure place. They will perhaps recommend to remove any light pieces of furniture.

They will take out eminence water, and then embark on the ventilation and drying processes. Ventilating the locality with fans and dehumidifiers particularly-designed to take care of areas exposed to water. The fans accelerate the drying process and curtail the drying time, while the dehumidifiers work to help dry the microenvironment. Do not wait just call immediately as time is essential in the case of carpet water damage, because mold, fungus and bacteria can begin to grow after twelve hours.

What you should do when carpet is damaged with water:
  • Straight away end the water flow causing the harm.
  • Take out any books, magazines or other personal belongings and shift to a dry area.
  • Get rid of any rugs, throw pillows and light furniture.
  • Get in touch with a water damage service corporation.
  • Have a word with your insurance company as it may wrap the damage.

Things you should avoid doing when carpet is damaged with water:

If your carpet, tile or wooden floor is damaged with water please do not:
  • Avoid using any electrical appliances such as televisions, toaster ovens or hair dryers.
  • Eliminate walking on the carpet as much as possible, as bacteria from the base of your shoes can cooperate with the water and generate a microenvironment for bacteria to grow.

What’s your stain?? – III (Miscellaneous carpet stains)

Carpet cleaning & stain removal could be an extremely tiresome & tedious task. Below are a few quick home remedies that you could use to get rid of those stubborn nasty stains.

Grease
Remove the surplus grease from the carpets by blotting up liquids with a clean absorbent towel. Apply a spot cleaner or a dry cleaning solvent on the affected area (according to the product directions). Take note to test the same in an inconspicuous place to make sure the carpet color is not removed. Some spot cleaners dry to a powder. If this type of spot remover is used, vacuum the area before continuing. Apply carpet shampoo (dilute 1 part liquid carpet shampoo to 4 parts water) with a towel or brush. Let the area dry thoroughly and then vacuum the same.

Charcoal
To get rid of a charcoal stain, mix 1 tbsp of liquid dishwashing detergent & 2 cups of warm water. With the help of a clean white cloth, dab the stained area with the detergent solution. Blot until the solvent is completely absorbed. Repeat the above 2 steps until the stain disappears. Sponge the area with cold water & blot dry. Vacuum the area as much as possible.

Candle Wax
Spread a terry cloth towel or brown paper over the affected area of the carpet and iron (use the tip of the iron) with the setting on ‘Warm’. The wax will be absorbed into the paper/towel. Next, remove any traces with alcohol or dry cleaning solvent.

Oil Based Paint
After the excess paint has been removed, carefully apply turpentine or paint thinner to the affected area. Blot repeatedly. Shampoo, let dry and vacuum.

Wine
Mix 1 tsp of a mild detergent (containing no alkali or bleaches) with 1 cup of lukewarm water.  Blot/dab the stained area with the mixture. Mix 1/3 cup of white vinegar with 2/3 cup of water. Blot the affected area. Repeat the 1st step. Sponge the area with clean water. Blot again.

Killing fleas in your carpet…

Fleas - Carpet Cleaning | Classique ChemDry

Killing fleas in your carpet can be achieved by vacuuming, steam cleaning the carpet or even by sprinkling salt. These home remedies are safe and do not pose a threat to your/your pets health.

Fleas are tiny insects without wings. They are characterized by their tube like mouth parts. These parasites feed only on the blood of warm blooded animals. There are a wide range of flea species, such as cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and even human fleas.
Although these insects are found in pets the entire year, the main seasons for flea bites are spring and summer. During these months, it is not odd to find flea infestations in your carpet. With quick coordination and cleaning effort, killing fleas in carpet can be achieved effectively.

Following are some of the home remedies for fleas in carpet:
  • Wash your pets bedding thoroughly. If the bedding can go in the hot dryer of your washing machine for around 10 minutes, it will kill adult fleas, larvae and eggs.
  • Sprinkle salt on your entire carpet.
  • Don't let your pet walk on the carpet during this time. Else they might get some stuff on their paws and lick it off. This may cause them to get sick.
  • Then vacuum your entire house properly, especially the areas that are not exposed to sunlight.
  • When the vacuum bag is full, take it in a sealed trash bag and put it in a covered trash container outside. Else, the fleas will crawl out and enter your house again.

Why you should get your Rugs cleaned by a Professional??

Here are just some of the reasons why you should get your rugs cleaned by a professional:

  1. Cleaning an area rug professionally helps maintain its form: There is a vast difference between the cleaning apparatus you use at home and the apparatus used by an area rug cleaning company. Dirt and sand particles are harsh and can damage the fibers of the rug, causing it to mislay its form.
  2. Specialists know how different rugs should be treated: Not all area rugs are made from the same materials, and hence they are not all the same. What seems okay for one might cause beyond repair damage to another. A specialized rug cleaner knows exactly what every rug type needs.
  3. A Rug is a breeding ground for mold and other fungi: The effects of fungal elements can be brutal and cause really bad skin infections. The cleaning solutions used by specialists, destroy the sources that cause fungal infectivity.
  4. Getting rid of bacteria and pollen: These allergens get blown into your house with the wind and end up on your rug. This might be a good explanation for your allergies/sicknesses. If not properly cleaned, a rug can become a health hazard.
  5. Getting rid of tobacco smoke residue: The chemicals found in tobacco smoke are injurious to health. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, you’ll be amazed to know how easily you’ll breathe after a specialist has cleaned your rug.

Instead of choosing dull wall-to-wall carpeting, you’ve decided to invest in dazzling area rugs. But, you should be aware that you will need to take special care in order to keep your carpet looking gorgeous for as long as possible.
